Char Dham Yatra from Dehradun (9 Days-8 Nights)
- 9 Days / 8 Nights
Barkot(2N) → Uttarkashi(2N) → Phata(2N) → Badrinath(1N) → Rudraprayag(1N)
Overview
The Char Dham Yatra is one of India’s most sacred Hindu pilgrimages, taking devotees to the four revered Himalayan shrines of Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath in Uttarakhand. Every year, lakhs of pilgrims from across India and abroad undertake this spiritual journey to seek divine blessings and experience the serenity of the Himalayas.
The pilgrimage season generally begins in April or May, after the temple doors open, and continues until October or November, when the shrines close for winter. The busiest period is between May and June, while the monsoon months (July and August) often bring heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of landslides and travel disruptions. Pilgrims are advised to check weather conditions before planning their journey.
The Char Dham Yatra can be completed by road or helicopter, depending on individual preferences and available time. While the road journey offers breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and a traditional pilgrimage experience, helicopter packages provide a quicker and more convenient option, especially for senior citizens and travellers with limited time.
With improved roads, better accommodation, and enhanced pilgrimage facilities, the Char Dham Yatra has become more accessible than ever. However, due to the high-altitude terrain and changing weather conditions, travellers should carry suitable clothing, essential medicines, and valid identification, and follow all official travel guidelines for a safe and comfortable pilgrimage.
